Chris Dunlavy says the art of old-school wing play isn’t dead – it’s just been reborn through modern full-backs like Ryan Giles and Milan van Ewijk.
Growing up, I always played left-back. Partly it was because I could use my left foot.
Mainly, it was because, in those days, full-backs were people who’d run all day but couldn’t trap a bag of cement.
Even crossing the halfway line earned a rebuke from the sidelines. How times have changed.
