In a statement announcing the departure of Garry Monk, Cambridge United explained their decision was predicated on a desire to preserve League One status.
And yes, that would be lovely.
But perhaps a more sensible strategy would be to lay some solid foundations for life in League Two.
That’s not defeatist or unambitious, it’s prudent.
Disastrous
The U’s are the smallest club in League One by a mile and began the weekend eight points from safety.
