Having arrived in the EFL amid predictions of domination, both Wrexham and Notts County ended the opening weekend on the wrong end of five-goal hidings. The Red Dragons, watched by their Hollywood owners, lost 5-3 to MK Dons, while the Magpies were humiliated 5-1 at Sutton.
It was a timely reminder of the step up in quality that, privately at least, both Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson and his Notts County counterpart Luke Williams will welcome.
