In his tearful farewell address, Gareth Ainsworth challenged the players of Wycombe Wanderers to join QPR in the Championship.
“You’ve got all the possibilities to do that as you’re an amazing bunch of guys and girls,” said the 51-year-old, who 24 hours earlier had painfully terminated a 13-year stint at Wycombe to take charge at Loftus Road.
Sadly, the same cannot be said of QPR. Since topping the table in October, the Hoops had, pre-weekend, won one of 19 matches, leaving them just seven points above the relegation zone.
