Blades were right not to cash in on Berge

Much was made of Sheffield United’s “financial situation” during the deadline day pursuit of Sander Berge.
Fulham, West Ham and Newcastle all made offers for the Norwegian international, none of which met the Blades’ £22m valuation.

Presumably, all three felt a bargain was on the cards given that United had been placed under a transfer embargo for failing to pay part of a previous transfer fee.

It’s no secret that the Blades are tight.

But let’s be honest here. United’s financial situation is about to improve to the tune of about £180m.
