Ange Postecoglou’s rambling rant about technology ruining football in midweek was incoherent at times, but it doesn’t mean the Tottenham Hotspur boss is wrong.
When I watch a Premier League game these days, my gut reaction to the scoring of a goal is not to celebrate or cheer or admire the finish.
It’s to wonder whether some imperceptible foul or marginal offside will prompt the VAR to spoil our fun.
And that’s thoroughly depressing, isn’t it?
Who cares if referees have microphones or 95 per cent of their decisions are correct?
