David Coote’s dismissal was probably inevitable after his comments about Jurgen Klopp, but the whole affair stinks of hypocrisy.
Officials are relentlessly abused by players and coaches on a weekly basis, usually for making decisions that are entirely correct.
If an overgrown baby spent 90 minutes yelling in your face and openly accusing you of incompetence, would you forgive and forget? Or would you - like Coote - think that person was an “absolute c***?”.
