NOTTINGHAM Forest fans underwhelmed by results since Chris Hughton arrived in October can take heart from his previous rescue act at Brighton.
When Hughton, left, replaced Sami Hyypia at the Amex on New Year’s Eve in 2014, the Seagulls lay 21st in the Championship. By the season’s end, they were 20th. In other words, every bit as poor as before. Fans were not happy.
Within 12 months, however, Brighton had finished third, and gained enough points (89) to win automatic promotion in any of the previous ten seasons.
