Team-mates: MK Dons forward Nicky Maynard

Best mate at the club?

I’m in my second season here and I room with Samir Carruthers – we get on well. Last season, I was quite close with Josh Murphy, but he’s gone back to Norwich City now.

Last to buy dinner?

Daniel Powell is very tight, I’m afraid. He doesn’t like getting fined and he always tries to contest it! He doesn’t like putting his hand into his pocket and he won’t go to the bar.

Worst dressed?

Captain Dean Lewington. I can’t really describe his style, but as he’s MK Dons through and through and runs the place, he doesn’t have time to show up all nicely dressed.

Dressing room DJ?

It’s between Samir Carruthers and George Baldock. They are both into their music, so it depends on who is starting. They put their phones on and it’s a mix of RnB, house, dance – something for everyone.

Late for training?

I wouldn’t say anyone is late for training. We have to be in for a certain time, but Daniel Powell often makes it with a minute to spare. When he’s in, he works hard and does what he needs to. He’s just had a new baby, so he tries to get home and see him as much as he can. We give him a bit of slack but, because we like to try and fine people, we keep an eye on the clock.

Teacher’s pet?

The gaffer likes to be individual with everyone. He’s quite close to all the players, to get them all onside. The experienced players – Darren Potter, David Martin and Dean Lewington – they’re the ones. If there is a problem, they go to him.

First on the dance floor?

I wouldn’t call them shapes, but Samir Carruthers is a bit of a party animal. He has some moves, but it’s more like a robot. He obviously makes the lads laugh in the changing room, so it keeps the mood up, but I would be embarrassed to be standing next to him!

Most likely to disgrace themselves at the Christmas party?

George Baldock is a proper ladies’ man and he tries to impress them. He doesn’t mind being a bit silly to get their attention with dancing or banter.

Worst tattoo?

Ben Tilney has a few which we noticed in pre-season. He’s got a love heart with an arrow going through it, which the lads are trying to find the meaning behind. There’s no explanation from him. He’s a quiet lad.

Partial to a sunbed?

There are a few lads who like the sun and George Baldock loves getting a tan. Obviously the captain (Dean Lewington) is ginger, so he has to stay away from that because he will burn quite easily!

Going to make the best manager?

Darren Potter. He’s very vocal in the changing room, he’s done his coaching badges and does some coaching with his son’s team. He makes a lot of sense when he is talking and he gets on well with the assistant manager and talks about coaching with him.
