Seagulls are notorious for nicking things from unsuspecting daytrippers – and now their footballing counterparts are getting in on the fun too.
A brace of 1-0 victories in Brighton and Hove Albion’s first two games of the season have given the boys in blue and white cause for belief as they seek promotion to the top flight.

The Seagulls kicked off the new Sky Bet Championship campaign with a tight win over Nottingham Forest at the Amex before notching a slender away victory at Southend in the League Cup. And they’re on the road again tomorrow for a visit to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Fulham have taken four points from their first two games with a 1-1 draw away to Cardiff and a 1-0 win away at Wycombe. But, like Brighton, they don’t look like letting rip with an abundance of goals anytime soon. The bet of the weekend could be found backing Brighton to win or draw with under 2.5 goals in the game at 169/100.

Elsewhere, fellow promotion candidates Derby got off to a stuttering start in the Championship after a drab goalless draw away to Bolton and a League Cup loss to Portsmouth. Charlton on the other hand are yet to put a foot wrong after notching a home league win against QPR and a 4-1 League Cup victory over Dagenham.

Derby and Charlton met at this point last year in an entertaining 3-2 win for the London hosts. They meet again tomorrow – this time at the iPro – with Charlton looking a decent price to win or draw at 7/5.

Down the ladder to League One and Sheffield United are still looking to stop the rot that plagued them at the tail end of last season. They lost 4-0 away to Gilingham in last week’s season opener and haven’t notched a league win in six attempts.

The Blades have been blunted in recent times but we fancy them to sharpen up when hosting Chesterfield at Bramall Lane. The latter put three past Barnsley last week and will be looking for a second win on the bounce, but we expect the provocative huge poster of Carlos Tevez in a West Ham United kit outside their stadium to fire up the Yorkshire and get back to winning ways. Back Sheffield United to win and both teams to score at 67/25.

In League Two, Crawley will be looking to boost their promotion hopes with a win against Wimbledon. Behind-the-scenes shenanigans at the Sussex club have seen top goalscorer Izale McLeod putting in a transfer request in recent months.

The 18-goal hitman was subsequently dropped for Crawley’s first two games of the new campaign – but Reds boss Mark Yates revealed on Thursday evening that wantaway McLeod is back training with the team and could play in tomorrow’s game. If McLeod features, back Crawley to win and under 2.5 goals in the game at 22/5.

If you’re feeling brave, stick all the above selections in a four-fold accumulator priced at a tasty 127/1.
