Stephen Warnock to retire at the end of the season

City left back Stephen has announced that he will retire from playing at the end of the season.

The 36-year-old former England international is currently on loan with the Bantams from side and has made seven appearances for the West Yorkshire club.

Warnock came through the academy structure at and went on to make 40 appearances for the Premier League club over a five year period. During this time the left-back was part of the side that won the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Championship in 2005.

Spells with , Aston , Leeds United and County followed before Warnock made the move to in 2016, where he was part of the side that suffered relegation to last season.

The left back picked up two international caps during his career and was named as part of Fabio Capello’s World Cup squad in 2010.

In a statement on his personal Instagram account Warnock said, “I’m lucky to have represented and captained some of the biggest clubs in England and this I am very proud of.”
