Defender Danny Rowe leaves Wycombe by mutual consent

The Chairboys defender has left the club just the day after his 22nd birthday.

Wycombe Wanderers have today announced that defender Danny Rowe has left the League Two outfit by mutual consent.

The decision brings to an end Rowe’s three year spell, all in all, with the Chairboys, with the player failing to feature so far this season.

Rowe turned 22 yesterday, and will now spend his time looking for alternative employment, with National League side Barrow – who he had two spells on loan with in the last two years – a possibility.

Rowe started his career with Rotherham United, but made only one appearance for the club before embarking on loan spells at Stalybridge Celtic and Wycombe (twice).

Those two loan periods were enough to convince manager Gareth Ainsworth to pull the trigger on the player, as he joined permanently in June 2015.

In a statement on the club’s official website Rowe spoke about the decision: “Thank you to everyone at Wycombe Wanderers for everything they have done for me the past few years,” he said.

“It has been a pleasure being part of the Wycombe Wanderers Football Club family and playing at Adams Park.

“I have learned a lot from my time here. Thank you to the gaffer, Dobbo, staff and players, and fans for being supportive through this difficult period for me and I wish every success this season and the future.

“The club will always be in my heart and I hope to one day cross paths in the future.”
