Ipswich Town have had a bid accepted for Cardiff midfielder Emyr Huws, and are close to sealing the loan signing of Manchester City starlet Bersant Celina, according to manager Mick McCarthy.
Huws, 23, enjoyed a loan spell with the Tractor Boys last season, spending the final four months of the campaign at Portman Road where he made 13 appearances and scored four goals.
The creative midfielder joined Cardiff in 2016 from Wigan, but failed to establish himself in the Welsh capital and paid a portion of his own wages in order to complete a move to Ipswich in January.
The loan move has paid off for Huws having now secured a permanent transfer, and McCarthy told Radio Suffolk: “He was outstanding when he came last season, one of the best players from January onwards.”
Meanwhile, the former Sunderland and Wolves boss sees Celina as a key player next season, and is hoping a deal for the 20-year-old can be completed soon with pre-season already underway.
The Kosovo international spent last season in the Eredivisie with FC Twente, and has made four appearances for City's first-team, and McCarthy said: “We've been looking for a replacement for Tom Lawrence – no pressure on him there, player of the year in every department.
“He's a similar type, right-footed left winger and can play in behind the striker.”
