play-off winner Shaun Williams has confirmed that a new deal is being negotiated by his representatives and .

Celebrating his team’s 1-0 victory at Wembley thanks to a late winner by veteran striker , Williams was questioned over his future at The Den with his current deal set to expire at the end of June.

Asked about whether he would commit to a new contract, the midfielder said: “Yeah, I’m willing and happy to sign it. We’re just working out the details.”

Williams, who joined the in 2014, was the player who broke up a City attack led by Mark Marshall to quickly counter and deliver the cross that saw Morison score to send Millwall to the .

Reflecting on a tightly-contested affair, he noted: “It was the sheer will to win. It was a terrible cross but luckily Greggs got a little touch and it fell perfectly for Moro and the rest is history. You have to do something out of the ordinary to win a game like that. It just happened.

“We learned that if we stuck to the game plan then we wouldn’t be out of the game.”

Upbeat by tasting success after last year’s final defeat to , Williams heralded the spirit manager Neil has nurtured in the squad.

“I think last year we were wanting to chase the ball, but it’s not our game. We like to sit in and counter attack. It works for us almost every time.

“The team spirit is phenomenal. Everyone gets on and everybody is friends. But everybody can batter each other at the same time. It just works well. I have to give a mention to the manager because in his first two full seasons in , he’s had two play-off finals and now a promotion.

“I think the people he brought into the squad were good guys. There are no bad eggs. We dig in and pull up our sleeves for everyone. It shows.

30-year-old Williams has been ever-present in ‘ plans this season, playing 56 times in the Lions promotion campaign.
