Marco Matias wins Goal of the Year award

Sheffield ‘s Marco Matias won the Goal of the Year Award last night for his stunning strike against in August.

The 26-year-old flicked the ball over the defender’s head with his right foot before rifling an effort into the top corner with his left foot from the edge of the area.

Upon receiving his award, Matias told reporters: “I am very proud and want to thank , the supporters, my family and everybody in the room tonight for voting for me.

“I think this is my best goal in my career and of course I want to score more, but until now, this is my best.”
The forward beat off competition from Michael Duckworth (), ( United), Jermaine Beckford (PNE) and Danny Williams () to claim the overall Mitre Goal of the Year Award.

Should Matias have won the award or was there a better contender?
