The O’s snapped up the 20-year-old from Southampton for an undisclosed six-figure fee at the beginning of September and it has proved to be an extremely shrewd signing.
Ballard has notched 16 goals, putting him joint second in the League One scoring charts alongside Reading livewire Jack Marriott and one behind Stockport’s Kyle Wootton.
He already has two hat-tricks to his name at the Betwright Stadium this term.
