Oldham sign Tareiq Holmes-Dennis on loan

Relegation threatened Oldham Athletic have brought in full-back Tareiq Holmes-Dennis on loan from Charlton until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old broke into the Charlton first team this season and showed real potential in his 12 appearances.

Holmes-Dennis will be reunited with John Sheridan after the defender played under the 51-year-old whilst on loan at Plymouth last season as the Pilgrims were agonizingly eliminated in the League Two play-off semi finals.

Sheridan told Oldham’s official club website “I really like him as a player and he did really well for me at Plymouth. He is a young, very energetic and I just felt we needed a bit of strengthening down the left side.

“I’ve only got two left footers in Joseph Mills and Jonathan Forte so I wanted a bit more balance. He can play full back or further up so I’m pleased to get him.”

Oldham are currently 21st place in the League One table but are in the relegation zone on goal difference following Tuesday’s victory over Blackpool.

Sheridan’s side face Rochdale at Boundray Park tomorrow. .
