CLUBS IN TALKS TO ABOLISH THE 3PM BLACKOUT

THE EFL and Premier League are to hold talks over ending the 3pm ‘blackout’ that prevents Saturday afternoon games being televised.
Current regulations prohibit the live broadcast of any domestic football in England between the hours of 14:45 and 17:15.
These rules have existed since the 1960s, when former Burnley chairman Bob Lord successfully argued that televised matches would have a negative effect on the attendances of other Football League games and, as a result, reduce their financial income.
