CLASS ACT: Joe Allen in action for the Swans

JOE Allen says he opted to retire before his performances for club and country dipped below an acceptable level.
The Swansea and Wales midfielder, who won 77 caps and spent seven seasons in the Premier League, was offered a one-year extension by the Championship Swans but instead announced he would hang up his boots following yesterday’s curtain-call at home to Oxford.
