Prior to appointing Steve Bruce, Blackpool thought long and hard about approaching Leyton Orient for Richie Wellens.
In the end, a combination of Wellens’ salary and potential compensation persuaded them he was out of reach, but it would be a surprise if the former Leicester midfielder does not attract further attention.
That may seem like a strange thing to say about a man whose team began the weekend bottom of League One without a point to their name, but don’t be fooled.
