Players to follow in the Football League

The Premier League is considered the best football league in the world at the moment, but the Football League is made up of teams that have an important history and excellent players to follow in the future. In the Championship, for example, there are some teams that would be great in any European league, with top-level players.

Also in League One and League Two there are excellent players, especially young ones, who attract the interest of very important teams. In fact, those minor football leagues are the springboard for young footballers and are often used by the Premier League clubs to increase the experience of talented young players from the football academies.

In this article, we will give you an overview of the best players in the minor leagues to keep an eye out for next year.

Ivan Toney – Brentford FC talent who played for Newcastle Utd

Ivan Toney is making an important contribution to Brentford FC’s successful season in the Championship. The English player, born in Northampton in 1996 is showing all his worth, after an excellent career already in League One and League Two

Toney also made his Premier League debut, playing two matches with Newcastle UTD. Newcastle formed the player, including him in his U21 and U23 squad. The excellent season at Brentford FC could be Ivan Toney’s definitive consecration to find a starting role in a Premier League team. Not only is Toney a striker capable of scoring many goals, but his contribution to the team is remarkable, as he is also a fantastic assist man.

At the top of the Championship standings is Norwich City, which continues to focus on the excellent performances of the Finnish striker Teemu Pukki. Already last season Pukki was one of the most interesting players in the Premier League, but he decided to stay at Norwich City despite relegation to the Championship. Next year could be the season of the turning point in the Finnish footballer’s career.

Jonson Clarke-Harris – League One

Jonson Clarke-Harris is a footballer born in Leicester in 1994, with dual English and Jamaican nationality. The Peterborough UTD player can be considered, at 27, a true veteran of League One. Jonson Clarke-Harris has played nearly 200 matches in League One, scoring more than 65 goals to date.

Probably, given his age, Jonson Clarke-Harris will not be able to aspire to a rosy future in some top clubs in the Premier League, but there is no doubt that for his level he is one of the best strikers you can count on.

Paul Mullin and James Vaughan – League Two

The footballer who is giving his best in League Two is Paul Mullin who plays for Cambridge UTD. Paul Mullin, born in Liverpool in 1994, is putting his League Two experience to bear this year as well. Cambridge UTD’s number ten has played over 280 career matches, including more than 230 in League Two, making him a top player in his category.

Also noteworthy is the good season of James Vaughan, who however had a much more important career. The Tranmere Rovers striker has played more than 400 matches, including 4 in the Europa League and 52 in the Premier League, scoring more than 120 goals. He certainly cannot be considered a player with future ambitions in the top clubs, but it is fair to consider his excellent performance this year.
