Striker, Bunn started his career at Luton Town. He made his debut in 1980 and won promotion to the top flight in 1982. In five years at Kenilworth Road, he scored nine goals in 59 games but was largely consigned to the bench. Signed by Hull to replace Billy Whitehurst in 1985, Bunn scored 23 times and barely missed a game in his two seasons at Boothferry Park.
