Neil Harris sent off as Cardiff slump continues

Cardiff City manager Neil Harris was dismissed by referee Leigh Doughty for dissent at Adams Park, as the Bluebirds suffered their third consecutive defeat.

Harris had to watch the remaining nine minutes of the game from the stands, as Cardiff faltered away at bottom of the table Wycombe, losing 2-1.

It is now three defeats out of their last three league games for Cardiff. This poor run of results has coincided with the loss of top scorer Kieffer Moore due to a torn hamstring.

Being given his marching orders is nothing new to Bluebirds boss Harris as he was also dismissed for getting involved in a scuffle with Leo Percovich – a member of Middlesborough’s coaching staff – when he was manager of Millwall last season.

Speaking after the game, Harris, clearly frustrated with his team’s performance, pointed to a lack of defensive solidity and desire from his players as the reason for Cardiff being outside the playoff places.

“We’re conceding too many goals, we haven’t got a clean-sheet mentality and we’re too soft,” said Harris.

“We’re too far from the top six for my liking.

“Losing games like tonight in the manner we did is disappointing, it’s not good enough for me.

“Conceding goals like this is just not acceptable. Where’s the winning mentality? Where’s the clean-sheet mentality? We had it for so long and it’s disappeared.

“It just can’t happen if you want to compete at the top end of this league. I don’t see us doing the hard yards to stop crosses.

“I don’t see us putting a head in where it hurts.  Is there enough leadership, is there enough desire to want to do well?”
