Daniel Farke To Reunite With Former Star As Leeds Plan For The PL

Daniel Farke

The 2024/25 Championship campaign was another exciting and enthralling one for fans of all colours and the battle at the top of the second tier table was tighter than ever, as although Leeds United secured their return to the Premier League they did so on goal difference alone.

Given the season that Daniel Farke’s charges had, they thoroughly deserved their top flight return but they secured top spot and the title by the narrowest margin possible as they were tied on 100 points with Burnley, but across the course of the campaign they had picked up one additional victory and had the superior goal difference from their 46 games.

For those football fans who like a flutter and gambled on Leeds securing promotion last summer, few would have thought that the margin would be that small as for those who like a bit more risk in their entertainment they would probably prefer the all or nothing nature that can be offered by 1 pound deposit casino uk offerings that can now be found in online casino’s.

With their 49ers Enterprises owners now preparing for the riches that the English top flight brings the Elland Road outfit are not resting on their laurels, and despite having scored 95 times in the league campaign last season, the transfer window speculation rumour mill has them linked with a move for Norwich City and United States of America international striker Josh Sargent.

The 25 year old, 28 international capped attacker, has had a good spell at Carrow Road since he made the move from German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen back in August 2021 for a fee of £8 million and his overall record at the club is 112 starts across all competitions with a return of 48 goals.

Although Norwich did not have a great season last year, finishing in 13th place in the table, Sargent scored 15 times with five assists in 28 starts and five substitute appearances for them, so he was always going to be in demand this summer.

Whilst any deal with Leeds is still a way off in reality and a transfer fee is yet to be negotiated between both clubs, it is claimed that early talks have been had with with the agency representing the player and although these discussions have only been early sounding out talks, there is presumably enough interest for formal talks to begin shortly with contact between the two clubs already having taken place.

It is a pretty obvious move for Leeds to make as they look to strengthen following their successful promotion as manager Farke knows the player well as he featured for him regularly during his spell at Carrow Road.

Sargent also has some top flight experience, as he scored twice in 26 Premier League games back in the 2021/22 season as the Canaries were relegated under Farke, and then latterly former Aston Villa gaffer Dean Smith.

He is also reportedly not the only striker that they are interested in bringing in this summer, as another of their top targets is set to be Everton’s Beto according to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Whether they set a priority target, or ultimately end up chasing both, it is rumoured that Norwich are aware that the player would like to return to the Premier League and have a second bite of the cherry, and would simply look to double their money on their initial investment and would be looking for a fee of around the £17 million mark, and that would certainly be within Leeds’ budgets.

This could certainly be a deal to watch for as the next few weeks pass.
