Town got off to a blistering start backed by a vociferous crowd with the QPR goal being peppered with a series of shots.
Leif Davis had a wonderful opportunity to take the lead for Ipswich in only the second minute when he was put clean through on goal by Jack Taylor, but QPR goalkeeper Joe Walsh came out to deflect the shot for a corner.
But Town took the lead a minute later through
Hirst. It came following a combination of passes involving Azor Matusiwa, Jack Taylor, Philogene and
