MARK Fotheringham says midfielder Jon Russell was sold to Barnsley on deadline day because his form “fell below” expected standards.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who joined the Terriers from Chelsea in 2021, played a pivotal role in Huddersfield’s unexpected run to the Championship play-off final under Carlos Corberan last season. He scored two goals in 22 games and started both legs of Huddersfield’s playoff semi-final victory over Luton.
