A messy divorce, but Neil exit was on cards

As the dust settles on Alex Neil’s controversial decision to ditch Sunderland in favour of Stoke, questions continue to swirl.
Did Neil orchestrate his own exit by insisting on a rolling contract just four weeks before the Potters’ approach? Did Sunderland force the 41-year-old’s hand by failing to offer a pay rise commensurate with last year’s achievements?
