THE League One promotion race took fresh twists yesterday as league leaders Wigan Athletic lost at home to Cambridge United – and Rotherham beat Ipswich to revive their hopes of going straight up.
Michael Smith notched a 78th-minute winner as Rotherham edged out the Blues to move within four points of leaders Wigan with four games to go.
“It’s pure relief,” said Rotherham boss Paul Warne. “There was pressure on us to perform and we did.”
