WATCHING Troy Deeney huddled under his hood at the John Smith’s Stadium last weekend, it was hard not to be reminded of Alan Shearer. In the Autumn of 1991, relations between Shearer and his Newcastle United manager Ruud Gullit had soured to such a point that the Dutchman - in a suicidal fit of pique - dropped the England captain for a crucial derby at home to Sunderland.
