DEFENCE IS CRUCIAL – RICHIE

LEAGUE ONE

HULL club captain Richie Smallwood has stressed the importance of his side’s defence to their promotion hopes.
The Tigers have enjoyed a flying start to their League One campaign and midfielder Smallwood, 29, said: “Our defensive record says a lot and that is where the wins have been coming from.
“We know that if we keep a clean sheet, we have the quality from back to front to create the chances we need to score a goal to win the game.
“We need to keep that record going if we are to be where we want to be at the end of the season.”
