ADEBAYO Akinfenwa took on Wayne Rooney and threatened to wreck his big debut as a manager.
Derby ditched their four-man managerial committee in the week and put Rooney in sole charge.
His first decision was to bin seven players who were in the team beaten easily by Middlesbrough in midweek, as he tried to lift Derby off the bottom of the Championship.
It went well in the first half as Rooney’s new-look side dominated and took a 36th-minute lead through Duane Holmes’ first goal of the season.
