WE NEED TO GET AHEAD OF THE GAME

DESPITE a study showing that footballers are three-and-ahalf times more likely than the general population to suffer neurological disease, nobody really knows why.
It could be caused by repetitive heading practice. It could be collisions. It could be playing on through concussion. Or it could be something else entirely.
As Greg Clarke, the FA chairman, said this week, the objective now is to “unpack” the findings and implement specific measures that better safeguard everyone who plays the game.
