IT is commonplace to see a relegated team torn asunder. Big earners offloaded. Prime cuts sliced off by wealthy predators.
Yet so little interest was there in the players of Huddersfield Town – and so modest the club’s outlay on wages – that of the 11 players who drew 1-1 with Manchester United in May, all but three could feature against Derby County tomorrow.
That Huddersfield lacked the talent to sustain top-flight football is indisputable. The Terriers’ haul of 16 points was the third-lowest in Premier League history.
