JOHN Welsh has left Grimsby Town by mutual consent.
The 35-year-old midfielder was in the first year of a two-year contract and was appointed captain upon his arrival at the club last summer.
But having featured regularly up to the end of September, he spent time sidelined by injuries and fell down the pecking order as a result.
The former Hull, Tranmere and Preston player made 17 outings for the Mariners in all competitions.
A club statement read: “We would like to thank John for his efforts and wish him all the best.”
