SWEENEY SAVOURS HIS IRISH CHANCES

MANSFIELD loanee Ryan Sweeney believes age-group football with the Republic of Ireland is helping him improve.
The 21-year-old central defender is on loan at Field Mill from Stoke until the end of the season, hoping to help the Stags go one better than last year’s eighth-placed finish.
Sweeney, born in Kingston- upon-Thames, qualifies for the Emerald Isle through grandparents on his father’s side and recently featured for their under-21s against Kosovo.
