WHILE with Southampton in 2010 we won, what was then, the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, beating Carlisle comfortably 4-1 at Wembley in front of more than 73,000 fans. We did have players of the calibre of Adam Lallana, Morgan Schneiderlin and Rickie Lambert in our lineup!
With this in mind, on Tuesday I headed to Crawley to watch them take on Tottenham U21s in the Checkatrade Trophy to see if there were similar stars of the future on show. These games are so hard to predict as both clubs struggle with where this competition sits within their respective fixture programmes.
