SHREWSBURY manager Paul Hurst felt his side fully deserved their narrowest of victories over Southend.
Two goals in the first half at Roots Hall saw the secondplaced Shrews move to within two points of League One leaders Wigan Athletic.
And Hurst was happy with how Shrewsbury were able to deal with a difficult pitch to secure another win.
