STRIKER Kurtis Guthrie is closing in on a return to first-team action, according to Colchester boss John McGreal.
The 24-year-old damaged his ankle against Hartlepool in February and has remained on the sidelines ever since. He’s set to have a run-out for the Under-23s.
“He’s training with the rest of the squad, although not all of the full-contact parts, as we don’t want to risk anything that might set him back,” explained McGreal.
“He’s been getting through a lot of work.”
