JOTA ‘TOO BIG’ FOR THE BEES

BRENTFORD sold midfielder Jota to Birmingham because he had got bigger than the club, according to the Bees’ co-director of football Phil Giles.
Blues boss Harry Redknapp signed the Spaniard on a four-year deal for a club record fee of £6million on deadline day.
Fellow Brentford teammates Harlee Dean and Maxime Colin also joined Redknapp’s side, but Giles says Jota outgrew the Bees.
He said: “When it becomes clear that a player has outgrown the financial constraints of the club then it is usually best that they move on for a better contract.”
