Ben Knight’s double saw Cambridge United past Walsall in a statement victory which was “fully deserved” according to boss Neil Harris.
They could now leapfrog the Saddlers if they beat Grimsby Town today, with Harris’ men sure to be oozing with confidence after a tenth league game without defeat.
Knight – who had only scored once this season previously – netted either side of the break, with United goalkeeper Jake Eastwood ensuring a clean sheet with a late penalty save from Aaron Pressley.
