Hopes are raised in Morecambe’s sale saga

Morecambe's board of directors say that “positive progress” has been made towards the long-running sale of the club – and have urged supporters to stick with them.
The Shrimps’ relegation from League Two was confirmed with defeat to Salford City on Monday. It means they will now play National League football for the first time since 2007.
Owner Jason Whittingham, in charge since 2018, has been keen to sell the cash-strapped club for more than two-anda-half years, but a takeover has yet to materialise.
