AFC Wimbledon extend unbeaten run but second-best at Fleetwood

Promotion chasing AFC Wimbledon played out a 0-0 draw at Fleetwood to extend their unbeaten Sky Bet League Two run to 11 games.

And while Johnnie Jackson’s side cut table-topping Walsall’s lead to seven points, they were second best for large parts of the contest.

Fleetwood enjoyed 43 touches in the Londoners’ penalty area to just six in reply, 16 corners to two and 20 shots to five.

But try as they might they could not prevent second-placed Wimbledon achieving a fifth successive clean sheet.

Three times Ryan Graydon went close to breaking the deadlock. He grazed the crossbar with a first-half header and also struck the outside of Owen Goodman’s left upright.

And when Graydon threatened to punish a Joe Lewis mistake, Goodman made the best of a handful of second-half saves.

Wimbledon’s best effort came after 37 minutes when Josh Kelly broke clear but his final effort was saved by Jay Lynch.
