AKINDE’S SNAPPED UP BY U’S

COLCHESTER have signed striker John Akinde following his release from League One outfit Gillingham.
The well-travelled 33-year-old scored just one goal in his last 36 games for the Gills, with his contract ending by mutual consent.
Akinde, who was part of Lincoln City’s 2018-19 League Two promotionwinning squad, has penned a two-and-a-half year deal at United and said: “It’s a good club.
“I’ve always thought that when playing against them. I know a few of the lads and I want to come in and help get us up the league.”
