THIS victory was not pretty for Southend United, but it could well prove to be priceless. Only a few weeks ago the Shrimpers seemed dead and buried and a second relegation seemed certain.
But the removal of the club’s transfer embargo and the addition of some key players has breathed life back into Southend.
And they have now given themselves a real chance of survival. The Shrimpers are far harder to beat these days and that was shown against Barrow.
