CARLISLE United signing Omari Patrick was relieved to join his new club after a deal that nearly didn’t happen in January.
The Bradford forward, who was at Wrexham on a short-term loan, was called to the team hotel in Mansfield to meet United boss Chris Beech in the dying hours of deadline day.
Patrick, 23, walked away with a permanent 18-month transfer and made an immediate impact for Carlisle’s reserves on Tuesday, scoring in their 2-1 Central League Cup loss to Fleetwood Town.
