OMARI Sterling-James shunned the opportunity to go out on loan in order to fight for his place at Mansfield, according to manager Steve Evans.
The 24-year-old St Kitts and Nevis international is eager to grab a first team jersey.
Evans said: “He is still knocking on the door. “To be fair to him, he turned a couple of options down to go on loan. He said, ‘I don’t want to go, I want to stay here and compete to get in’.”
