SKIPPER Peter Clarke claims something special is brewing at Oldham, and that is why he had no hesitation in signing a new two-and-a-half-year deal.
Before the weekend, Clarke had played every minute of a league campaign that has seen the Latics struggle in the lower reaches of League One – sitting three points above the relegation zone before yesterday’s trip to Southend.
But the 35-year-old centre-back has been at the heart of a defence that had conceded just 39 goals in 40 games, third fewest in the division.
