BLACKPOOL boss Steve Bruce was stunned after his side lost a Vertu Trophy penalty shoot-out to Aston Villa U21s – 18-17!
After Tuesday’s tie finished 1-1, it was Villa who progressed to a last 16 tie against Bradford via an English professional record for most penalties taken in a shoot-out.
In total, there were 38 spot-kicks.
“I’ve been involved in a few of these, but I’ve never seen it go to 18-17,” admitted Bruce.
