PROUD Birmingham City boss Chris Davies hailed the character of his troops after the Blues beat Swindon to move into the Vertu Trophy quarter-finals. Ayumu Yokoyama gave Birmingham a 49th-minute lead, but sub Harry Smith levelled for Ian Holloway’s Robins with 14 minutes left. With penalties looming at the County Ground, an 89th minute own-goal from Smith proved decisive.
