Match Preview: Stevenage v Barnsley (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Barnsley face a challenge to maintain their high-scoring form away against a tight defence on Tuesday.

With 74 goals in 41 games, Barnsley are the third-highest scorers in ahead of the 7.45pm kick-off at the Lamex Stadium.

They face a side who have scored 51 in 42 matches, but conceded only 41 goals, putting them fourth among the league’s tightest defences – only , County and have conceded fewer goals.

Stevenage are in bad form in League One, with no wins and three draws from their last six games.

With two wins and a draw over that period, Barnsley’s form is better – they have taken seven points from 18, compared to the Boro’s three.

In Jamie Reid, the home side have one of the league’s most on-form strikers so far this season. He has notched 17 goals in 39 appearances, to sit third in the scoring charts.

The Tykes’s top scorer, with 17 goals in 41 games, is Devante Cole.

The visitors are fifth in the table after 41 games, of which they have won 21 and drawn 11, earning 74 points.

Stevenage are four places behind Barnsley in ninth, with 17 wins and 13 draws putting them on 64 points.

Stevenage’s last match was on Saturday, a 1-0 loss against City.

Barnsley lost 2-1 against last time out, also on Saturday, with Adam Phillips on the scoresheet.
